We are seeking a talented and experienced Chemical Engineer to join our team for the design of a new TRISO fuel fabrication facility in Oak Ridge, TN. As a Chemical Engineer specialized in radioactive waste processing, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing efficient and safe waste management strategies for the facility. Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement radioactive waste processing strategies for the TRISO fuel fabrication facility.
• Collaborate with the design and engineering teams to integrate waste processing requirements into the overall facility design.
• Conduct process simulations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to optimize waste treatment and disposal methods.
• Design and evaluate waste treatment systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and environmental regulations.
• Work closely with process engineers to develop and optimize waste treatment processes and systems.
• Provide technical expertise in radioactive waste characterization, handling, and packaging.
• Collaborate with project managers to develop waste management plans and budgets.
• Participate in safety and regulatory reviews to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, to ensure proper handling and disposal of radioactive waste.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in radioactive waste processing technologies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in radioactive waste processing and management within the nuclear or energy industry.
• Strong knowledge of radioactive waste characterization, treatment, packaging, and disposal methods.
• Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and guidelines, such as those from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
• Proficiency in process simulation software and other relevant engineering tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and optimize waste processing strategies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while adhering to project schedules and deadlines.
• Understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to handling radioactive materials.
• Professional certifications or licenses related to radioactive waste management are a plus.
